Second Chance’s first-ever “Share the Love” campaign has come to an end, and we’re grateful to our supporters for contributing $2,100 to spay/neuter funding and our Hearts to Home animal transport program!

As a nonprofit organization that receives no government support, all of the animals in our adoption program are given shelter and food; vaccines and microchips; and spay/neuter surgery and medical care thanks to our generous donors. Approximately 700 animals/year find their forever families locally because of these donations.

At Second Chance, we always aim to do more to advance our mission—and the Feb. 2021 “Share the Love” campaign will help us do just that this year. In 2020, we not only made sure that every animal in our program was spayed/neutered before adoption, but we also spayed/neutered an additional 481 cats and dogs in the community to proactively prevent thousands of kittens and puppies from being born into homelessness. And, through our transport program, we rescued over additional 115 dogs from local overcrowded county shelters and helped them make their way up north, where they found their new homes and, in many cases, got specialized medical care that they likely would not have received here in North Carolina.

The $2,100 raised through this campaign will be allocated by the Second Chance Board of Directors to the shelters, rescues, and nonprofit organizations we partner with for both the spay/neuter and the animal transport initiatives that expand our services beyond local rescue and adoption. Animal homelessness is a community-wide problem that requires collaborative efforts and Second Chance is proud to organize these initiatives with your help!
