Second Chance is SPRINGING into Spring!
Everybody Gets an Event!

Even as we are in the midst of the Carolina Hurricanes Supply Drive this week & getting ready for the South Plaza Party this weekend, we are busy busy busy getting ready for all the events coming up in April!

WoofinwaggleWe kick off the month on April 1 at Woofinwaggle for the Sip and Shop. Local vendors will be there with goods for pets and humans alike, & we’ll be there with adoptable animals! Enjoy a glass of wine as you peruse the tables & find your new favorite things (a portion of the proceeds will be donated to our animals!).

Crank Arm Dog WalkThen, on April 9, we’ll be at Crank Arm Brewing for a downtown dog walk (11am-noon) & enjoying some good drinks and food with friends (12-2pm). As usual, we’ll have some raffle prizes, including exciting exclusive prizes for those in attendance! From 11am to 7pm, 10% of the bar sales will be donated to Second Chance animals!

The rest of April holds a dog wash, the Lafayette Village Wine Walk, the annual Unleashed Spring Fling, “Yappy Hour” at Blackfinn Ameripub (more info coming soon), & the first Bark in the Park event of the year! Learn about these events & more by checking out our website calendar — we’re constantly updating it!

Meet Frank

Frank

Frank – March 16, 2017

Just six weeks ago, Frank, age 2, lived on the streets. He was fortunate enough to have a sweet caretaker who provided food, water, and love, & he was a very social boy… but Frank was still homeless & exposed to the elements & predators alike.

In early February, he showed up at his caretaker’s door with a nasty wound. His neck was gaping open, & not only was it clear that he needed medical attention, but it was also clear that he needed to live indoors–stat.

Frank

Frank’s neck wound after it had been cleaned up

We are not sure if Frank got hung up on something or if he was attacked, but because YOU have supported us, we were able to take him in and give him the surgery & medical care he needed to clean his wound, suture it up, and keep him infection-free.

At Second Chance, rescuing injured animals is a critical part of our mission. We take in the healthy and treatable alike and, thanks to donors like you, are able to provide excellent medical care to animals waiting for their second chance.

Frank is a friendly kitty who loves people & is great with other cats and dogs, and he will find a forever home thanks to you. But there are more cats & dogs who need our help every day.

Frank is available for adoption! Interested? Visit him at Second Chance any time we’re open or apply to adopt him here!

Would you like to help with Second Chance events?

Even if you can’t adopt an animal right now, there are other ways to help homeless, stray, and abandoned animals! We always need help taking care of the animals in our facility, & as we move into the busiest part of the year, we can always use more volunteers who help us staff the many fun and exciting events we’re a part of.

No free time on your hands? Donating makes an impact, too.

However you can help, animals are waiting on you, right here, right now.
