Arthur, Alfred, Archie, Bongo, and Marvin!

Meet Arthur, Alfred, Archie, Bongo, and Marvin!

Hold onto your hats: we have FIVE Cats of the Week this week! All five of these babies are brothers: Arthur, Alfred, Archie, Bongo, and Marvin! They’re 3 months old and quite the snuggly boys and, as orange cats, happy to be featured in October! You can read more about each here on our website (click on those five different links!). These boys still live with their foster mom, not at the Adoption Center, but we have Adoptathons here on Saturdays from noon to 4:00 p.m., so make SURE to come and visit them this weekend or put in an application to adopt so we can schedule a meeting for you!

Walker

Meet Walker

Our Cat of the Week is Mr. Walker! He’s a playful 2-year-old boy who loves meeting new people. He is EXCELLENT with dogs–and people! He’s a real talker who chirps and carries on a conversation. Walker is one of our FIV+ boys, which just means that his immune system is a little weaker than a cat that is negative. But, he’s a lover and not a fighter, so he can even live with negative cats. (FIV gets passed through deep cuts that come from things like fighting.) He can have a totally normal cat life and getting out of the shelter environment is what is best for him, so come and visit him this week! He’d love to say hello!

Apollo

Meet Apollo

Our Cat of the Week this week is Apollo! This one-year-old boy has been with us for quite some time, but he has just been marked adoptable since we’ve been working to get him out of his shell and familiar with the other cats in the Center. He’s now in a community room and doing great! In fact, he would really enjoy having another cat in his new home, so if you’re looking for a playmate for your current kitty (or looking to adopt a pair), consider Apollo! He REALLY likes toys, too, so he will make a great playmate for someone who likes activity. 🙂 Come and give this boy some pets and playtime!

Ezra

Meet Ezra

With all the craziness around the Evening of Pawsibilities going on here, we almost forgot to tell you about our Cat of the Week, Ezra! “Handsome” and “unusual” are some of the words that people use to describe Ezra when they first see him. This 9-month-old kitten is super energetic and a wee bit feisty. He is going to do best in a home with another energetic kitten or cat, who can handle a rough-and-tumble playmate. The world is one big toy for Ezra. He is very sweet, but is still working on some of his social skills. For instance, he has not quite learned that hands are not meant to chew on, and are much better for receiving head scratches and cheek rubs. He tends to act a bit more like a 4-month-old kitten than one who is nearly full grown. But we think that with a little time, more human interaction, and a good buddy to wrestle with, he will blossom into a lovely young man. 🙂 (Psst–Ezra’s left ear has been “cropped,” or squared off, because he was neutered through a trap-and-release program. It does not affect his hearing at all.)

Amanda

Meet Amanda

Our Cat of the Week is 2-year-old Amanda! Her markings make her a beautiful and unique cat, but she hasn’t let it go to her head! She’s super sweet and loves getting pets and snuggles. She’s outgoing and she’s usually the first cat to meet you in the room. She does okay with other cats but can be slightly bossy, so as long as she can be in charge, she and your other cat(s) will get along just fine. What she’s really looking for is a special someone whose lap she can curl up in. Come and meet her!

James Bond

Meet Slater and James Bond

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time for Cat of the Week…and this week we have another bonded pair of brothers to feature! Slater and James Bond are 3-year-old brothers who were found not only in a single crate by a dumpster, but surrounded by other garbage in hopes that no one would find them. Amazingly, they are alive and well today. We know we say that a lot of cats are snuggle bugs, but we couldn’t mean it more with these two! Taking pictures of them was more difficult than usual because they just want to curl into your lap. If you’re looking for cats who are affectionate, look no further. Apply to meet Slater and James Bond today, or come and visit them at the Center this week!

Kirby and Calvin

Meet Kirby and Calvin

Our Cats of the Week this week are Kirby (white and orange) and Calvin (white and gray)! This bonded pair of 4-month-old boys are the perfect pair of kittens. These two gentle babies just love affection and snuggles and are suckers for belly rubs (seriously, they’ll just lay on their backs with all four feet in the air just waiting!). They will reward any attention with the loudest purring in the state. These guys had a very rough start in life–Second Chance rescued them after they were turned into a kill shelter as tiny 3-week-old kittens with no mom. They had terrible eye infections and needed help with eating on their own, so they learned very early to depend on and trust humans. The boys are now healthy, although the infection significantly damaged one of Kirby’s eyes (so he does not have much sight in it and needs artificial tears daily), but he romps and plays with no difficulty at all! Calvin and Kirby love each other as much as they love humans. Kirby is especially attached to his brother, so we would love to adopt them together as a pair. To help keep them together, their adoption fees have been sponsored by a Second Chance parent who adopted a pair of bonded siblings and want to preserve the bond between Kirby and Calvin.

Ramona

Meet Ramona

Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day, so in honor of that, our Cat of the Week this week is Ramona, a 9-month-old kitten! Ramona is one of our overlooked kittens, and we just don’t know why. She is sweet, but not overly needy. This petite girl is just 6 pounds, so she will always be a small kitty. However, that does not mean that she can’t keep up with the bigger cats–she is an active, rough-and-tumble girl, who loves to wrestle and play chase. She can hold her own with cats who are twice her size. As she is getting older, she has mellowed a bit, but she would love to have a kitty playmate in her new home. Ramona does well with kids and would be fine with a dog, too. She does like attention and will gladly climb in your lap after a hard day’s play, making her a wonderful addition to any household. We know her furrrrever home is out there–is that home yours? Come visit her and see!

Macy

Meet Macy

It’s Wednesday……..which means a NEW Cat of the Week!!
This week our lucky Cat of the Week is Macy.

Macy is a playful 8 month old kitty with big beautiful green eyes. She is a little shy at first, but once she gets to know you a little better she is very loving. Although she is almost a year old, she still loves running around and playing like a kitten. She really enjoys playing with the other kitties in her room, and her favorite game to play is hide and seek. She is super fun and would love to be your best friend!!
She would do well with another cat who can keep up with her playfulness- but would also be fine alone, as long as you can keep up with her energy!

Does Macy sound like the cat of your dreams?! Come meet her and find out this week! You won’t be disappointed.
