Second Chance Pet Adoptions is the oldest no-kill rescue organization in Wake County. At Second Chance, our mission is to champion homeless cats and dogs who are healthy or treatable in the quest to find their forever home and engage with our community to promote responsible pet ownership-ultimately reducing future generations of homeless animals.

    Pups, Pints, & Play at Waverly Place

    The weather is cooling off and it’s time to fall into fun! From noon to 4:00 on October 7, Second Chance will be at the Pups, Pints, & Play event at Waverly Place shopping center in Cary–and we want you and your pup to join us! Get ready for a day of pup-citement, including:

    • –Delicious beer from Brewery Bhavana and wine from Triangle Wine (for humans)
    • –“Beer” (shhh, it’s bone broth) for dogs
    • –Treats from Rocky Mountain Chocolate
    • –Hourly raffle prizes and giveaways
    • –Live acoustic music by Tommy Neimann
    • –Awesome shopping with pet-themed vendors
    • –A doggy Halloween costume contest (with prizes!)
    • –A “Stuff the Subaru” supply drive for our animals (check out our Wish List HERE)
    • –Pet portraits (FREE!) from Five Freedoms Photography

    And of course….

    ADOPTABLE DOGS! We’ll be bringing some of our sweet pups looking for their fur-ever homes, in the hopes that they meet their new families!

    So grab your friends and canine companions and come have some fun in the fresh fall air with us!

    Trinity Episcopal Church is hosting a Blessing of the Animals drive-through. (Given the prevalence of dog flu in the area, the festival has been cancelled and humans and dogs will now remain in their cars.) This blessing is open to humans of all faith and free of cost.     —Bring your fur baby, dressed in costume for the 11am contest if you’d like, and grab a pic with them in the photo booth!
    —Shop items from Bumble and Hound while enjoying specialty coffee drinks!
    —Reward your pup for posing by cruising through the Unleashed treat bar and grab a giveaway on your way out!
    —And of course, connect with local rescues, including Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue, Paws for Life NC, Perfectly Imperfect Pups, and Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue (and us)!

    Howl-O-Ween Harvest Ball

    94.7 QDR brings you the 21st annual Howl-O-Ween Harvest Ball on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the Lincoln Theatre, featuring Easton Corbin and newcomers Dalton Dover and Conner Smith. As always, there will be a costume contest featuring a top prize of $500! A portion of the proceeds will benefit various local animal shelters including APS of Durham, SPCA of Wake County, Second Chance Pet Adoptions, Saving Grace, and Wake County Animal Center.

    Tickets are on sale through etix.com. Tickets start at just $14.50 with a limited amount of VIP tickets available for $45, which includes early entry to meet all of the artists before the show. Doors are at 7:00, event begins at 8:00.

    Please leave personal pets at home.
