“IMMEDIATE MEDICAL RESCUE NEEDED,” cried the urgent banner above their photo.
The text of the post continued, “MOMMA WAS HIT AND KILLED BY A CAR!” The local county shelter was pleading for help—six kittens with raging eye infections needed to move into foster homes and begin treatment as soon as possible. Daily, the possibility increased that these orphaned babies would lose their eyes. This crew needed foster care, stat.

Second Chance Pet Adoptions called in its squad to help.
Famed foster mama Lisa Best stepped up to house them, treat their eye infections, and give them all the care they needed, but could no longer get, from their mother. Our volunteer medical coordinator, Paula, worked with our crew of clinic volunteers to treat round after round of resurgence of the nasty eye infection that threatened the sight of these kiddos. They were just a few weeks old, but they were fighters. Frankie, Dion, Harry, Otto, Eliza Lou, and Allie finally sailed into the clear, 12 beautiful and healthy eyes between them—all with the help of supporters like you.
Frankie, now Milo, has healthy (if unamused) eyes.
At Second Chance, it has always been a vital part of our mission statement to rescue healthy and treatable stray and abandoned cats and dogs. Time and again we have rescued the sick and the injured, and through the power of our squad, these precious animals have received excellent-quality medical care. Our vet partners, our volunteers, and you—the generous people who provide life-saving funds—give kittens like these (and dogs, too, of course!) the second chance these innocent souls deserve. Frankie and Dion were adopted together and will spend this holiday season snuggling together, just as they did on the day we rescued them—only now, it’s in the comfort of their forever home.
