Give a Treat, Get a Treat: Make a Charitable Contribution by Dec. 31 to Get a Tax Break!

Bandit (formerly Chewie Bear), adopted in Nov. 2021 after being found as a stray with a broken hip in Aug. 2021, enjoyed his first holiday season surrounded by love this year (Thanksgiving treats courtesy of his foster fam)–thanks to donors, he’s happy & healthy!

Donate by December 31 to claim your 2021 tax deduction! Like last year (when tax rules were changed to help nonprofits through the pandemic), charitable contributions of up to $600 (married filing jointly) or $300 (individual) may be deducted “above the line” (even if you don’t itemize)…but your gift must be postmarked or received by midnight on December 31.

There are several ways to donate to the animals before the deadline:

  • Mail your check on or before December 31 to Second Chance Pet Adoptions, 6003 Chapel Hill Road, Suite 133, Raleigh, NC 27607 (the post office will mark it with the date).
  • Donate through our website on or before December 31.
  • Drop your check off at Second Chance (address above) between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on December 29 or December 30. (Bonus: you can visit with animals while you’re here if you’d like!)
  • Contact us (Rachel@SecondChanceNC.org) if you need to drop your check off before 11:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. on December 29 or 30 or if you need to drop it off on December 31. Our adoption center will be closed to the public on December 31, but arrangements can be made to have someone receive your check if that is the only day you can drop it off. We are thankful for your contributions and will do our best to be here when it works for you!
