With Thanksgiving behind us and holiday shopping in full swing, we’re approaching the global day of philanthropy known as #GivingTuesday! On Tuesday, November 28, Second Chance will join the many nonprofits who will be raising money in service of our mission: to give every stray and abandoned cat and dog the second chance to find love that they need and deserve. We invite you to join us for a live-streamed tour of our adoption center that evening at 7:30 p.m. Eastern so you can meet the animals who will immediately benefit from your donations (to say nothing of the animals whose lives will be saved and changed by your gift over the next year)! Simply hop over to our Facebook page (you don’t need a Facebook account to watch) and go behind the scenes as we introduce animals!

Increase your impact: create a fundraiser!

YOU can create a fundraiser of your own any time between now and Tuesday: it’s quick and easy! Not only do these 3-to-5-step-setup fundraisers bring in much-needed funds for the animals, but they introduce new people to our mission to expand the Second Chance family! There are two ways to do it, and both will get you a customized link to share with your family and friends via social media, email, text, or any other means by which you like to share links.

  • Through JustGiving:
    • Start your set-up by going to https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/gt-2023Sign up (or log in if you’ve used JustGiving before).
    • Click the orange “Start Fundraising” button.
    • When asked if you’re donating in honor/memory of someone, select no, and when asked if you’re taking part in an activity, select “Just fundraising.” Lastly, select “no occasion.”
    • Set your goal and personalize the title, story, and link, or accept our pre-set content to keep it easy. Keep our cover photo or choose your own.
    • Once you’re satisfied with your content, hit “Finalise” and tell it to launch your page.
  • Through Facebook:
    • Go to https://www.facebook.com/fund/SecondChanceNC/. (You must have a Facebook account and be logged in.)
    • Edit anything you’d like, including the goal amount, the title, the “why” behind your desire to fundraise, and the header photo, or keep Facebook’s pre-set suggestions.
    • Hit the “create” button.
